The client came to me with a specific world in mind: video games, cosplay, and the figurines and memorabilia that go with both. They wanted a media gaming shelf that did more than store things; it needed to feel like part of the collection.
I designed the structure in walnut with shelf heights and cubby sizes that vary deliberately, so figures could occupy different elevations and depths, some front and center, others tucked back as if lying in wait. The asymmetry isn’t only decorative; it gives each piece its own stage.
The focal point is the segmented ring, which references the Super Smash Bros. Trophy. The ring is accented with holly, chosen for its near-white color, this created a nice contrast against the walnut.
