A custom Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired credenza to hide a cat’s litter box inside. The client’s design description was that she wanted a credenza in the style of Tim Burton’s movie Nightmare Before Christmas. The almost-black stain is screen-matched to a moonlit scene in the movie. So it is a dark grayish blue. To add to the spooky vibe, she requested deliberate notches/tear-outs on some of the edges. Instead of running the panels through the thickness planer, I resawed them on the band saw to leave saw marks on the surface. The little curly Q carvings are inspired by an architectural detail that I can’t remember the name of. But it is a prominent detail in the movie that helped shape the design direction of this Nightmare Before Christmas-Inspired credenza.
