This Minimalist coffee table was one of those projects where the client knew exactly what vibe they were going for: clean, minimal, with that mid-century modern feel. We went with black steel legs for durability, angling them inward to give it that classic tapered look. There’s something about that subtle geometry that just grounds a piece. It keeps everything feeling light but still solid. For the walnut top, we went with a full 2 ½” thickness because I wanted it to have some serious presence. Walnut has this incredible depth to it, especially once you get a few coats of finish on it; the grain patterns really come alive. It’s warm without being too heavy, which plays perfectly against the matte black of the legs. We made it a comfortable size to fit her couch, 22″ wide by 40″ long, and 20″ tall. It’s scaled just right for their space.
