Chemical Patination

Chemical patination is the accelerated, intentional oxidation of metal surfaces such as copper, bronze, brass, and steel.  The process uses chemicals to create, protect, or color finishes like green (verdigris), brown, or black. It mimics natural aging for artistic or architectural purposes.  It is a great way to add some natural colors to your furniture project and make them pop like pieces of art.  They are often top-coated with a clear coat finish of choice to get the desired sheen.
