This client wanted a dressing vanity to correspond in the same style as a headboard I built that featured a series of decorative swooshes moving across its face. When they came back for a dressing vanity, the goal was to carry that same visual language into the new piece so the two would feel like they belonged together.
The swoosh starts on one side, wraps across the front, and comes back down the other side. It’s a relief layered into the walnut and painted black. That contrast between the warm walnut and the black relief is one of my favorite things about how this one turned out.
The front has a single drawer at the top that is sized right for hair brushes, a few pieces of jewelry, and the things you reach for every day. Instead of a traditional drawer pull, we cut an organic finger-notch shape into the upper right corner of the drawer face, with a groove along the back edge where your fingers naturally rest. That shape was pulled directly from the integrated side tables on the headboard, so even that small detail ties back to the original piece.
The vanity is built to work with either a mirror sitting on top or one hung on the wall above it, whichever suits the space.
The whole thing is built with walnut and a matte clear coat.
