Benham Design Concepts is a full-service design and fabrication art studio, making custom furniture with an artistic flair by blending wood, stone, glass, and metals to create stunning, handcrafted furniture and custom architectural components tailored to your space. Whether you need a showstopping dining table, a bedroom suite that tells your story, or a home office built for the way you actually work. These pieces are built in my Colorado Studio and shipped all over the USA.

HOW IT WORKS
From Concept to Completion
Every piece of custom furniture begins with a conversation. I listen, sketch, design, and build, creating furniture that belongs in your home or office.
Step 1
Let’s Talk
Start by telling me as much as you can about your project, style preferences, and functional needs. Help me understand the piece you’re imagining, the space it’ll inhabit, and the lifestyle it needs to support.
Step 2
Budget & Design Deposit
Based on our discussion, I’ll come up with a budget to complete your project. Once approved, we move to the design phase.
- A non-refundable 10% deposit is collected as a design fee to create design sketches, stain and finish samples, etc.
Step 3
Collaborative Design
I translate your ideas into detailed drawings and 3D renderings so you can see the piece before a single cut is made. The custom furniture design process is a collaborative one, so don’t be afraid to give feedback.
- 2 to 3 design revisions are normal to dial in the details, so everything feels right.
- We’ll select materials such as wood species, finish types, and hardware.
Step 4
50% Deposit to Start the Build
Your piece is handcrafted in my shop with traditional joinery techniques and modern precision, paying special attention to all the details we talked about.
- A non-refundable 50% deposit is collected to start the build.
Step 5
Delivery & Installation
We deliver, place, and install your piece personally, because the final moment of seeing it in your home matters as much as every other step.
- If you live out of our delivery area, we can arrange for your piece to be white-glove delivered, or crated, and shipped right to your door.
- Final Payment is collected before delivery & installation

Don’t have a fully formed idea? No problem! Whether you’re inspired by a Pinterest board, a rough sketch, or just a feeling, I’ll work with you to refine your vision and turn it into a functional, beautiful piece of furniture.
With decades of experience designing custom furniture, I’ve designed everything from handmade writing desks and luxury bathroom vanities to coffee tables with jet engines suspended in them, each piece as unique as the client behind it.

Flexible Design Consultations
- Email Collaborations Email is a great way to bounce ideas back and forth to get the ball rolling, to create a wish list of things you want included in the final design. Size, materials, and functionality are a great starting point.
- Virtual Consultations. Once I get a basic design sketched out, a video call is a great way to go over the design. I draw each piece as a 3D CAD model so I can share my screen and we can spin the piece around and discuss all the details.
- Stain and Material Samples available upon request. I want to help you visualize and understand what the finished piece will look like.
- Collaboration: From concept to creation, I prioritize collaboration to ensure your custom furniture reflects your style, functionality needs, and aesthetic preferences.
- The Custom Furniture Design Process: Each furniture design is presented with a detailed sketch and render, so you can get a feel for how the piece will fit into your home or office.
- The design process is a collaborative one. Use the sketches to give feedback so we can adjust the design to fit your needs.

Every project starts not with lumber or steel, but with a genuine understanding of your life. What do you need the piece to do? How does the room feel today, and how do you want it to feel? What materials speak to you, and which ones will endure?

FAQ’s
Q: How much does custom furniture cost?
A: I have built custom pieces between $2,000 and $20,000. Prices vary based on size, materials, and complexity of design. It is difficult to pinpoint a cost for a custom piece until we talk about what you are looking for. Please reach out for a design consultation so we can talk and come up with a budget. One of my goals is to design the coolest piece of furniture I can to fit your budget.
Q: Any Suggestions if Custom Furniture is Out of My Budget?
A: Yes! While Handmade furniture will always be expensive, I do offer a line of made-to-order pieces that don’t have design labor figured in, so they are a little cheaper.
Q: Do I have to have a budget to get started?
A: No. Tell me about the type of furniture you want me to create for you, and I will tell you what it will cost. From there, you can decide if you want to proceed or make changes to the design and dial in a budget you are comfortable with.
Q: How long does it take to build custom furniture?
A: From design approval to delivery, most projects take 8 to 12 weeks. This can vary based on the complexity of the design, the number of pieces you order, and how many orders are in line before you. I do my best to communicate an estimated delivery date, based on your project and the current workload in the shop. So if you have a particular deadline you need met, please let me know upfront so we can plan for that.
Q: Do you offer in-home consultations?
A: Yes! If you are in the Denver and Colorado Springs metro areas, I can visit your home or office to take measurements, assess your space for wood tone color, and furniture style to ensure your custom piece fits perfectly.
Q: What if we were outside of Colorado?
A: No worries, we can meet via Zoom, phone, or email. If you have a travel budget, I can fly out to discuss and install your custom furniture
Q: Can you match an existing furniture style?
A: Absolutely. Provide photos or samples, and we can coordinate finishes, wood tones, and designs to blend with your décor.

Located in the heart of Colorado, I can offer personalized delivery options to the Denver Metro and Colorado Springs Metro areas as well as services to the west slope, such as Telluride, Aspen, Vail, Steamboat Springs, and more. If you don’t live in Colorado, I ship all over the USA. I can box, crate, blanket wrap, or white-glove deliver your custom furniture.
