A Colorado Springs client had a specific reason for having me design this Mission Style Blanket Chest. She wanted it large enough to store her outdoor cushions so they are out of sight and protected for the winter. So we stacked up her cushions to measure them to be sure we designed it just the right size. She had a South West vibe going on, so a mission-style chest seemed to complement that feel.
The chest opens two ways; the front doors are held shut by a clasp, and the top opens as well. This lends the chest to additional customizations, where one could add a shelf in the middle so the lower portion can be accessed by the door, and the upper section can store larger items that are accessed through the top lid.
